Edie Weintraub
Retail & Placemaking Strategist

Founder of Terra Alma.
Advising developers, cities + growth-stage brands on building places people love.

I lead Terra Alma as a strategic partner to developers, cities, and brands - stepping in early to shape retail vision, curate operators, and design activation plans that my team and I help bring to life.

A large vintage farm silo painted in colorful retro style with the words "Two Step Farm" and an illustration of a goat, standing outdoors on a brick platform surrounded by a small garden, with trees, a gravel road, and a white camper with the word 'Howdy' on it in the background.
A to-go coffee cup with the text 'Roswell Provision' and a bicycle illustration, placed on a dark surface with a loaf of bread in the background, inside a cozy cafe.
City skyline during sunset with tall buildings, including the prominent Bank of America Plaza with its gold triangular top, in Atlanta, Georgia.
Outdoor cafe seating area with tables, chairs, and potted plants on a cobblestone street in front of a building with large windows. A chalkboard sign advertising coffee drinks is visible.

Why Terra Alma Exists

I started Terra Alma because I’m obsessed with how people actually live, walk, eat, and gather.

After 20+ years in retail real estate and studying neighborhoods in 29 countries, I wanted a firm that treated retail + restaurants as the heartbeat of a place, not as an afterthought once the buildings were done.

Places We’ve Helped Bring to Life

Every community builds retail. Not every community builds a heartbeat.

When you weave the right mix of restaurants, shops, and gathering spaces into a development, you’re not just filling storefronts — you’re creating the places where neighbors meet, kids grow up, and stories begin. This is what turns a location into a legacy.

79% of Americans say walkable access to shops and parks is important.

  • 90% of Millennials & Gen Z will pay more for it.

  • Homes in walkable communities sell for $500–$3,000 more per Walk Score point.

  • Walkable retail boosts rents by 27–54% and accelerates sales velocity.

When you give people somewhere to gather, linger, and connect, you don’t just fill space — you create loyalty, pride, and value that compounds over time.

Why It Works

The Ripple Effect

When retail is planned with intention, it sparks more than commerce:

  • Sales Velocity – Homes sell faster and at higher price points.

  • Brand Story – PR teams excited to share the news and influencer buzz increase.

  • Community Bonds – Neighbors connect and stay engaged.

One coffee leads to a conversation.

That conversation leads to a friendship.

And over time, those friendships weave into the identity of your community.
